Building your personal learning network is an important part of taking control of your learning. This doesn't just mean the learning that you do in school but includes all of the everyday activities that contribute to building your knowledge base. Every time you memorize the words or music to a song, read an interesting blog, news item or book, listen to an informative podcast or radio show, take and edit a picture, observe someone else doing something you want to learn, or watch a tutorial on youtube, every time you ask a question you are creating your knowledge base.

Creating your personal learning network means knowing who you are, what you want to learn and who (not necessarily people that you know) can help you learn that information.

To help you answer these questions your assignments are as follows:

  1. Blog reflections to questions as you are asked to
  2. Complete the interests and network project on the charts and graphs page.
  3. Professionally document this process by adding resources to your igoogle.
  4. Create a visual and audio digital project expressing your interests using music, voice and pictures on the digital projects page.
  5. Evaluate yourself by creating a chart that includes all parts of this assignment and uses the sum and products functions to total your final mark.
Start with your first blog. Your concept blog questions:

  • In your own words, what is a Personal Learning Network?

  • Why do people create Personal Learning Networks?
